I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. It helped me deal with darkness, and express my angst, in a quick, efficient way compared to writing entire scenes in a story. Blink: Life is Poetry is a notebook of 143 poems that I wrote in fifth and sixth grade. Maybe seventh. I’m not going to put all of them online, as some of them are too identifying, and I don’t want to embarrass anyone other than myself. But it’s been an interesting glimpse through time. I can’t believe how dramatic I was, and how seriously I took some things. Because back then, I truly thought that what I was thinking and feeling was ultimate reality. But I still feel for little me, just trying to navigate the world. That girl would be happy to see that so many people appreciate her poetry now!
