Diapers, drool, and milk up-chuck And things that might be more than "yuck" You wake up twelve times per night You thought you heard the baby cry It's not easy, yes I know But it's better than what's up the road! Soon they'll start school, but you're not done The hard work has just begun. Cookies, homework, brand-new friends The cuts and bruises just don't end. Now high school's just around the corner Finals, cars, and year-end formals. Pretty soon they'll need a car They'll leave the nest and follow their hearts. College, dating, wedding bells! Screaming, laughing, baby smells? We've come full circle, I'm sad to say. You're old and tired, hair turned gray. It's still not over though, that's not it They want you to babysit! It's not easy, yes I know But you're done walking down that road And so I give applause and praise Hip-hip, HORRAY! For baby days.
