So i discovered a thing. My original intention was to find one of those things where you can make a robot read a bunch of examples and then generate it’s own version of the work, and I ended up finding Plot Generator. It’s basically mad libs, where you put in a bunch of information and then it gives you a story. It can be really funny because even though you’ll be putting in info thinking it will be used one way, it ends up being completely different. It seems like the blocks get reused in different ways, but one thing I really enjoy is that if you’re using it based on a real story, it helps to make you think about characters, motivations, setting, personality, and other things that you might take for granted until someone actually asks you. All in all, it’s a fun toy that might give you a laugh or even some ideas, even if it gets repetitive. I’ve been doing them with different character combinations that you might be familiar with if you’ve been keeping up with my Saviour’s Path uploads. Check out my Facebook page for one where Lanie actually does kill Ben, as opposed to just threatening him at the party. And go to the link above to give it a try for yourself! Let me know whether you like Plot Generator’s Saviour’s Path better….
Graceful Jake McGuinness
A Short Story
by Lidi Brock
Lanie de la Torres was thinking about Jake McGuinness again. Jake was a graceful wolf with wiry face and slender biceps.
Lanie walked over to the window and reflected on her bright surroundings. She had always hated peaceful Los Salvadores with its gentle, greasy gazebo. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel suspicious.
Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the a graceful figure of Jake McGuinness.
Lanie gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was an intimidating, paternal, water drinker with muscular face and massive biceps. Her friends saw her as an adorable, aggressive assassin. Once, she had even brought an ugliest baby back from the brink of death.
But not even an intimidating person who had once brought an ugliest baby back from the brink of death, was prepared for what Jake had in store today.
The snow flurried like dodging dog, making Lanie scared. Lanie grabbed a fake combat boots that had been strewn nearby; she massaged it with her fingers.
As Lanie stepped outside and Jake came closer, she could see the yellowish glint in his eye.
Jake gazed with the affection of 9051 powerful faithful fish. He said, in hushed tones, “I love you and I want salvation.”
Lanie looked back, even more scared and still fingering the fake combat boots. “Jake, don’t act like you’re a better spy than me,” she replied.
They looked at each other with broken feelings, like two curved, crooked cat blocking at a very responsible baptism, which had worship music playing in the background and two practical uncles kicking to the beat.
Lanie studied Jake’s wiry face and slender biceps. Eventually, she took a deep breath. “I’m sorry,” began Lanie in apologetic tones, “but I don’t feel the same way, and I never will. I just don’t love you Jake.”
Jake looked haunted, his emotions raw like a large, loud lighter.
Lanie could actually hear Jake’s emotions shatter into 4410 pieces. Then the graceful wolf hurried away into the distance.
Not even a drink of water would calm Lanie’s nerves tonight.THE END
