#51 I’m Sorry For Your Loss

I wish I could give you this note
But I'm not sure that I should
My words could do more damage
Than they would to good

I didn't react when you first told me
Because in truth I am very slow
But now I am devastated
I just thought you should know.

It might not seem like it
But I'm not one to shed tears when I cry
Believe me, I am terrified too
Sobbing on the inside.

Your hurt is now my hurt
I feel your sorrow, and mine too
I never really knew your brother
But I think I might know you.

So I'm sorry I didn't react right
Like I said I'm very slow
But we'll pray for your family tonight
I just thought you should know.
